About Us
Communities United for SMART Growth is a recognised 501C3 Charity comprised of the
senior leaders from 11 long-established residential, business and property owners groups.
These organizations represent the neighbors of Universal Studios Hollywood and are most
affected by the proposed vision / development plans for the NBC Universal properties and
the Universal City MTA site, adjacent to the Red Line station and the historic Campo de
Cahuenga.
The Group was formed in response to learning that NBC Universal sought to substantially
develop their property in and around the Cahuenga Pass, Lankershim Blvd. and Barham
Blvd. Additionally, the proposed development on the MTA site on Lankershim Boulevard at
Campo de Cahuenga Way will dramatically affect the historical Campo de Cahuenga
Communities United fro SMART Growth supports proper development. By that we
mean any development should be of a proper scale, have appropriate mitigations
in place concurrently with the project and should ultimately enhance the
surrounding communities that it seeks to benefit from.
We believe that "Transit-Oriented" development WITHOUT a transit plan is a recipe
for disaster. Further, we believe that over-development is NOT a transit plan!
